Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is providing support for mental health counseling fees to residents experiencing psychological difficulties such as depression.
Modern people, who are vulnerable to stress in their busy daily lives, are likely to have psychological problems. If left untreated for a long time, it can lead to extreme choices in the worst case, so caution is essential.
Accordingly, the district supports mental health counseling fees. The purpose is to help residents visit specialized medical institutions without financial burden to detect problems early and receive treatment. Anyone residing or living in the Gwangjin-gu area can receive support.
The cost support is up to 80,000 KRW for 1 to 3 sessions. In the first session, after undergoing a screening test related to depression, anxiety symptoms, etc., and signing a counseling consent form, 40,000 KRW will be deducted from the consultation fee. For the 2nd and 3rd sessions, 20,000 KRW each will be supported when receiving in-depth counseling from a specialist. However, medication costs are excluded.
Before visiting the medical institution, you can easily get help by accessing the QR code and filling out the questionnaire. Respondents will be provided with information about mental health counseling and specialist consultations.
Additionally, free telephone counseling services are provided for high-risk individuals.
To use the service, make a phone reservation at a participating medical institution, visit, and sign the consent form. Currently, four clinics are participating, and detailed information such as contact numbers can be found on the Gwangjin-gu Office website.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “We are supporting counseling and screening fees so that those with psychological problems can take care of their mental health,” adding, “We will do our best to help many residents have healthy days both physically and mentally.”
