Earlier, Kim’s family posted on online communities and social networking services (SNS) seeking witnesses to an assault on the dementia grandmother.
According to her son, Mr. A, Kim visited a hospital in Uijeongbu City with her son on the 14th but went missing while her son was inside for a medical consultation.
After six hours of being missing, the grandmother was found on a roadside about 6 km from the hospital, with severe bruising around her eyes and a serious orbital fracture. Blood had pooled around her eyes, and she underwent an emergency procedure in the ER to drain the blood.
Consequently, the family reported to the police, suspecting that someone had assaulted Mrs. A.
After the police concluded that the injuries were caused by falls while alone, the family also felt relieved upon reviewing the CCTV footage. They stated, "If there had been an assailant, the trauma would have been severe, but since that was not the case, we consider ourselves fortunate."
