The Expert Committee on Compensation for Vaccine Injury announced on the 21st that it reviewed a total of 512 new cases of compensation claims filed due to adverse reactions following COVID-19 vaccination and recognized causality in 71 cases (13.8%), deciding to provide compensation.
As of now, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccination injury compensation claims is 95,798, of which 88,127 cases have been reviewed. Compensation has been decided for a total of 23,986 cases (27.2%), including 17 deaths.
Among the claims for small medical expenses under 300,000 KRW based on out-of-pocket costs, 15,254 cases underwent local government review for expedited processing, resulting in compensation decisions for 5,673 cases.
Additionally, the COVID-19 Vaccination Injury Compensation Support Center announced cases of medical expense and death condolence payments related to suspected causality diseases decided through reexamination and other processes up to this day, as well as condolence payments for undetermined cause of death after autopsy.
The total number of recipients for medical expense support for suspected causality diseases is 1,745, and the number of recipients for death condolence payments is 9. For the 50 recipients of condolence payments for undetermined cause of death after autopsy, individual guidance is being provided through the respective local governments, with applications currently being accepted and payments completed for 45 recipients.
