Shinsegae Food Launches 'Proper and Upright High-Protein, High-Calcium' Hot Dog

Shinsegae Food announced on the 21st that it will launch two new products: the "Olbareugo Bandeuthan" high-protein glutinous hot dog and the high-calcium glutinous hot dog.

Shinsegae Food recently focused on the growing consumer interest in healthy food spreading to convenience meals. In fact, in March, Shinsegae Food released three types of the premium hot dog "Olbareugo Bandeuthan," made without sweeteners (aspartame, acesulfame potassium) and preservatives (propionic acid) used as food additives, using sausages made from domestically produced pork and glutinous rice flour from Korea. Within three months of launch, cumulative sales exceeded 530,000 units.

Shinsegae Food analyzed that this popularity is due to consumers increasingly encountering home meal replacements (HMR) amid rising dining-out costs, leading to a preference for products that offer not only taste and convenience but also health and nutrition. Especially, this preference for healthy food is considered to be higher in convenient snacks for children, which led to the decision to launch high-protein and high-calcium hot dogs.

The "Olbareugo Bandeuthan High-Protein Glutinous Hot Dog" contains 10g of protein per piece, providing about 18% of the daily recommended protein intake. The "Olbareugo Bandeuthan High-Calcium Hot Dog" includes 206mg of calcium, covering 29% of the daily recommended intake. Both hot dogs feature juicy and chewy textures using carefully selected domestically produced pork sausages and glutinous rice flour, without using sweeteners or preservatives as food additives.
