DA Technology and V Space Participate in Korea's Largest Drone Expo 'UWC 2023'

DA Technology announced on the 19th that it will participate in the 'Unmanned Mobility Industry Expo (UWC 2023)' held at COEX, Seoul from the 21st to the 23rd.

Now in its 5th year, UWC 2023 is an event showcasing advanced drone technologies from both domestic and international sources, attracting significant attention from experts in related fields. DA Technology plans to introduce UAM aviation battery packs and more at this expo.

Since November last year, DA Technology has been collaborating with V Space to manufacture battery modules to be applied to UAM aircraft. With its long-term research and development and high-level battery technology, the company is expected to expand its business area from secondary batteries to UAM aviation batteries.

V Space is a specialized company in the transportation drone sector and successfully completed a flight demonstration of its self-developed UAM aircraft last year. V Space's UAM is a pure electric propulsion vertical takeoff and landing aircraft characterized by redundant flight control and battery control systems.

UWC 2023 is Korea's first unmanned mobility specialized event, launched in 2018 by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Science and ICT. This year, it is hosted by seven ministries including the Ministry of National Defense and the Cheong, and co-organized by 16 institutions such as the Agency for Defense Development, Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and Korea Drone Industry Promotion Association.

Companies from various fields, including drone and urban air mobility (UAM), Korean-style electric vertical takeoff and landing personal aircraft (eVTOL), electric-powered unmanned helicopters, unmanned mobility, aerospace materials, anti-drone technology, and smart mobility logistics industries, ranging from transportation companies to defense contractors, are expected to participate.

A company representative explained, “Unlike general batteries, aviation batteries require minimizing contact resistance during the battery cell connection process, which demands high-level laser processing technology. The synergy will be maximized when DA Technology’s accumulated battery-related expertise combines with V Space’s UAM aircraft development technology.”
