Athletes of Yeongyang-gun Unite as One! ... For the Successful Attraction of Yangsu Power Plant

On the 16th, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk held a resolution rally for the attraction of a pumped-storage power plant at the lawn square in front of Yeongyang-gun Office, with the participation of executives and members of the Yeongyang-gun Sports Council and members of sports organizations by category.

This event was hosted (organized) by the Yeongyang-gun Sports Council (President Park Jae-seo) and was arranged with the purpose of sportspeople wishing for the attraction of the pumped-storage power plant. It was held with about 400 people gathered, including County Governor Oh Do-chang, local sportspeople, and heads of social organizations.

The event led by the Yeongyang-gun Sports Council proceeded in the order of the pumped-storage power plant attraction wish challenge, a pungmul performance by the Ilwol-myeon pungmul troupe, and the reading of an appeal and a resolution for the attraction of the pumped-storage power plant.

If the pumped-storage power plant is attracted, Yeongyang-gun will receive an investment of 2 trillion won in national funds for the construction project of the pumped-storage power plant, which will boost the local economy. Additionally, it will secure 93.6 billion won for regional development projects and 1.4 billion won annually in local taxes. In the long term, through the complex tourism resource development, it can contribute to revitalizing the local economy. Residents of Yeongyang-gun, classified as a population loss risk area, strongly wish for the attraction of the pumped-storage power plant.

At the event, County Governor Oh Do-chang said, “I am very proud to be part of the ‘Pumped-storage Power Plant Attraction Resolution Rally’ held with the passionate enthusiasm of Yeongyang’s sportspeople, and we will unite the will of the residents to surely attract the pumped-storage power plant.”

Park Jae-seo, president of the Yeongyang-gun Sports Council, who hosted the event, said, “The sportspeople of Yeongyang-gun will unite and devote themselves with one heart and one mind to successfully attract the pumped-storage power plant to Yeongyang-gun.”
