Yongin City to Accept Additional Applications for Farmers' Basic Income Starting on the 26th of This Month

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will accept additional applications from June 26 to July 7 for farmers who missed the opportunity to apply for the 'Farmer Basic Income' in the first half of this year.

Yongin City provides an annual Farmer Basic Income of 600,000 KRW to all farmers in the area as a form of social compensation for guaranteeing farmers' right to livelihood and recognizing the public value of agriculture and rural communities.

The additional application eligibility is for farmers who have resided in Yongin City continuously for 2 years or a total of 5 years or more and have engaged in agricultural production for at least 1 year.

There are two ways to apply: visit the district office or the administrative welfare center in your jurisdiction, or apply through the Farmer Basic Income integrated system online.

Yongin City will select additional beneficiaries and pay the Farmer Basic Income for the first and second halves of the year in local currency in October.

Earlier, at the end of February, Yongin City received applications for the first half Farmer Basic Income and, after three rounds of qualification screening, selected 11,942 farmers.

The selected farmers received 300,000 KRW for the first half of this year on July 1 in Yongin local currency called Yongin Y- Pay.

Yongin City will pay the support fund for the second half of this year in October.

Farmers who receive the Farmer Basic Income must use it within 180 days from the date of receipt. Starting this year, it can also be used at local agricultural and livestock cooperatives.

A Yongin City official said, "We are accepting additional applications so that farmers who missed the initial application can also receive benefits without omission," adding, "We expect the Farmer Basic Income to help not only farmers but also traditional markets and small business owners, thereby revitalizing the local economy."
