New IoT Sensors Installed for Real-Time Parking Information on 130 Shared Parking Spaces
200 Parking Sharing Guide Signs with QR Codes Installed, Promoting Parking Sharing Project Using Bus Stop Advertisements to Increase Resident Participation
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gijae) is addressing parking difficulties in residential areas by installing additional Internet of Things (IoT) sensors that provide real-time parking space information on 130 shared parking spots by the end of the year.
The district plans to invest approximately 46 million KRW by year-end to install new sensors on 130 shared spaces in resident-priority parking lots. Including the 916 spaces where sensors have already been installed, a total of 1,046 smart shared parking spaces are expected to be secured within this year.
By installing IoT sensors on parking spaces, users can check the number of available parking spots in real time through smartphone apps related to shared parking. In particular, since the sensors are installed on ‘ARS shared parking spaces’ where parking registration can be done with a simple phone call, it is expected to create a synergy effect by enhancing user convenience.
Additionally, the district will produce and install 200 parking sharing guide signs embedded with QR codes and promote the parking sharing project using bus stop advertisement boards, which have high public exposure, to raise awareness and participation rates.
Since 2019, the district has been promoting the parking sharing project by utilizing resident-priority parking lots that are vacant during daytime in areas with high parking demand such as residential neighborhoods and commercial districts. With an affordable rate of 100 KRW per 5 minutes compared to private parking lots and convenience as strengths, the cumulative number of uses since 2019 has reached approximately 130,000 cases.
Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, “We will continue to actively promote parking management projects that improve parking convenience for residents and create a better urban living environment.”
