Yongin City Achieves 77% Collection Rate for Overdue Water and Sewage Charges

Yongin City Achieves 77% Collection Rate for Overdue Water and Sewage Charges Special Collection Team of Yongin City Takes Action on Overdue Water Bills

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province collected 77% of overdue water and sewage fees through the operation of a special collection team.

Yongin City announced on the 12th that from April 22 to May 31, a joint special collection team from the water and sewage business offices targeted delinquent payers with overdue amounts of 400,000 KRW or more and those with two or more overdue cases, collecting a total of 430 million KRW from 263 individuals across 1,127 cases. This accounts for 77% of the total overdue amount (560 million KRW).

Yongin City continuously monitored overdue situations, judging that prolonged delinquency could turn into chronic non-payment, making collection efforts difficult.

During the collection activities, to resolve delayed payments related to management fees and common area charges between management offices and business operators for commercial and business water usage fees, the city conducted pre-collection notices and persuasion through three-party meetings.

Additionally, for groundwater fees overdue by building tenants, the city informed building owners of their joint payment obligations to encourage collection, and took seizure actions on deposits and real estate for habitual delinquents.

A Yongin City official stated, "We made efforts to conduct efficient collection activities by sharing collection techniques and case-by-case solutions among departments under the water and sewage business offices," adding, "The collected funds will be used to provide better water and sewage services to citizens."
