[One Day Walk] Manhwa Museum and Hosu Park... Line 7 Samsan Sports Complex Station

SamSan Sports Complex Station on Subway Line 7 is located exactly on the boundary between Incheon Metropolitan City and Bucheon City. Using this station as the boundary, Sangdong Lake Park and Bucheon Citizen Cultural Hill belong to Bucheon, while SamSan Sports Complex belongs to Incheon. Geographically, Bucheon serves as a passageway between Incheon and Seoul. It has played a role in supplementing the population growth of these two major cities, supporting light industry development, and serving as a transportation route. Near SamSan Sports Complex Station are Bucheon Manhwa Museum, Hanok Village, Yainshidae Camping Site, Metasequoia Road, and Sangdong Lake Park.

The Korea Manhwa Museum relocated to Sangdong, Bucheon in 2009 and was renamed the Korea Manhwa Museum in May 2011. It features storage from basement level 1 to the 4th floor above ground, exhibition spaces, experience zones, screening rooms, reading areas, and a retro-themed zone. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Next to the Manhwa Museum is the Hanok Experience Village. Although not large in scale, visitors can explore the structure of traditional hanok houses, stay overnight, and participate in various experiences. The surrounding area has many outing spots such as the Cultural Hill Farm, Manhwa Museum, and Sangdong Lake Park, making it suitable for family trips.

Bucheon Cultural Hill Farm was originally a citizen garden created on the set of the Bucheon Fantastic Studio’s Yainshidae drama. Some parts of the set, such as a tram and buildings, remain, creating a unique harmony with the surrounding atmosphere. There is also a camping site that is convenient for self-camping enthusiasts or those without separate equipment. On the way from Yainshidae Camping Site to Sangdong Lake Park, the Metasequoia Road lies gently. In summer, it is lush with greenery, and in autumn, the red foliage creates a more charming hidden gem.

Right across the connected overpass in front of Exit 5 of SamSan Sports Complex Station is Sangdong Lake Park. Located in Sang 2-dong, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon City, this large park covers an area of 182,000 square meters centered around a wide lake. The lake’s freshwater capacity reaches 10,000 tons, with various fish swimming and aquatic plants thriving. The lake is always kept clean through continuous water purification. Wooden bridges and decks for walking are installed throughout the waterside. The park includes sports facilities such as an inline skating rink, gateball court, and badminton court. Nearby attractions include Fantastic Studio and the Museum of World Famous Architecture. Various flower festivals in spring, as well as events, performances, and exhibitions, are frequently held. In 2003, Korea’s first light festival, ‘Luminare,’ was held here, attracting more than 520,000 visitors. The park is open free of charge 24 hours a day throughout the year.
