According to the Sankei Shimbun on the 9th, Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested members of a club called the "Boreumdal Group" and sent them to the prosecutors. They are suspected of repeatedly holding orgy parties with underage females under 18 years old at hotels in Osaka, Kyoto, and other locations.

Formed in 2017, the "Boreumdal Group" reportedly gathered over 100 male members through social media (SNS) such as Twitter and repeatedly held obscene gatherings.

The suspects arrested this time include 18 men in their 20s to 50s. Among them, a hospital employee, Mr. A (49, Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture), is suspected of having sexual relations with a female who was 17 years old at the time, knowing she was a minor, at a lodging facility in Nagoya City in August last year. They were charged with violations of the Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Prohibition Act and other offenses.

They reportedly tried to justify themselves to the police by saying things like "Our sexual desires were stronger compared to others."

According to the Sankei Shimbun, their methods became increasingly bold over the years, and from a few years ago, they attracted underage females under 18 as sexual partners by claiming "limited to trusted customers."

The media reported, citing the police, that the "Boreumdal Group" held more than 100 orgy parties centered around Osaka, Nagoya, and Kyoto, including child prostitution.

ABC News reported, "When the police asked the arrested minors why they did such things, they stated that they needed money to buy idol live concert tickets and related goods, or to buy gifts for their boyfriends."

Kyoto Prefectural Police plan to strengthen monitoring of SNS and guidance activities for lodging facilities to protect underage females from sexual exploitation in light of this case.

Earlier in May, a Japanese male teacher who participated as a member in a mixed-gender "orgy party" was expelled from the teaching profession after it was revealed that he had sexual relations with a high school girl.

The teacher joined the orgy party club through social media (SNS) in 2020 and paid the organizers 40,000 to 50,000 yen (approximately 390,000 to 490,000 KRW) per event to participate. In an investigation by the education authorities, he reportedly stated, "After the COVID-19 pandemic, my work-related worries and stress increased," and "I tried to use sexual activity as a breakthrough to solve my problems."
