The National Election Commission Appoints Heo Cheol-hoon, Standing Commissioner of Seoul Election Commission, as New Deputy Secretary-General

Election Commission "Comprehensive Consideration of Organizational Reform Will and High Morality"

The National Election Commission appointed Heo Cheol-hoon (58), a standing commissioner of the Seoul Election Commission, as the successor to Deputy Secretary Song Bong-seop, who resigned on the 9th amid allegations of preferential hiring of his child.


The Election Commission announced at the committee meeting held at the Gwacheon Election Commission on the same day that Commissioner Heo was appointed as the new Deputy Secretary.


This comes ten days after former Deputy Secretary Song stepped down due to the allegations of preferential hiring of his child.


The Election Commission explained, "Since the 22nd National Assembly election is only 10 months away and we must prepare without any setbacks by stabilizing the organization through innovation, the new Deputy Secretary was comprehensively considered not only for practical work capabilities but also for the will to reform the organization and high morality."


Deputy Secretary Heo previously served as Director of the Election Bureau, Director of the Planning Bureau, Auditor, Director of the Planning and Coordination Office, and Director of the Election Policy Office at the Central Election Commission.
