Ministry of the Interior and Safety Special Grant of 100 Million Won Support, Completion This Year
Jinju-si, Hadong-gun, and Geochang-gun in Gyeongnam have been selected for the 2023 National Safe Green Public Restroom Pilot Project hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
According to Gyeongnam Province on the 9th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety selected 24 local governments nationwide, including Gyeongnam, as project targets.
▲ Creating energy-saving and eco-friendly green public restrooms ▲ Improving safety of restrooms in multi-use facilities such as urban parks and walking trails by installing safety management facilities like emergency bells ▲ Establishing a safe and convenient environment for public restroom users by incorporating digital technologies for automatic temperature and humidity control are the main focuses.
Considering the appropriateness and feasibility of the project, each selected city and county will receive a special grant of around 100 million KRW, and the green public restrooms are expected to be completed within 2023.
Lee Jae-gi, Director of Water Quality Management Division, said, “This is a great opportunity to practice carbon neutrality through remodeling public restrooms to save energy and to create public restrooms where users can feel safe by installing safety management facilities such as emergency bells.” He added, “We hope to successfully carry out the project and become a model case for other local governments and the private sector.”
