"Solutions for Climate Change and Cancer Treatment Will Become Possible"

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, expressed his interest in Korean startups on the 9th and showed his willingness to seek opportunities for collaboration.
CEO Altman attended a discussion titled "K-Startup Meets OpenAI," held at the 63 Building in Yeouido, Seoul, invited by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
In response to a question from Minister Lee Young about his impression of Korea, he said, "Korea is a very interesting place with a high internet penetration rate and advanced technology." He added, "We are interested in collaborating with Korean startups that are effectively utilizing AI technology."
Previously serving as the head of the American accelerator Y Combinator (YC), CEO Altman praised, "Korean startups are outstanding. There are many talented individuals, and the entrepreneurial spirit is excellent."
He stated, "I consider Korea's global companies to be a great asset, and I want to continue conversations about collaboration," adding, "I want to invite Korean companies to the U.S. and also meet them frequently here."
Regarding the societal changes AI technology will bring, Altman predicted, "Everything that was previously impossible, such as solving climate change and treating cancer, can be achieved," and said, "There will be no limits to creativity."
However, he added, "(AI technology) is a powerful tool, so we need to think about how to reduce risks going forward."
