Kookmin University (President Lim Hong-jae) LINC 3.0 Project Group announced that it held the 16th Hongneung Forum titled ‘A Community of Coexistence! Hongneung’ on the 2nd at Kookmin University Academic Conference Hall in cooperation with the Hongneung Forum (Chairman Moon Gil-ju).
The Hongneung Forum is a gathering of 18 universities and research institutes located near Hongneung that seek agendas and strategies for regional development and aim to activate sharing and collaboration with local governments and companies.
At this forum held under the theme ‘A Community of Coexistence! Hongneung,’ government and local government officials such as Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, and Kim Young-bae, National Assembly member for Seongbuk-gu (Gap), as well as Moon Gil-ju, Chairman of the Hongneung Forum, Lim Hong-jae, President of Kookmin University, Han Kyun-tae, President of Kyung Hee University, Kim Myung-ae, President of Dongduk Women’s University, Park Jung-woon, President of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Kim Dae-jin, President of Korea National University of Arts, Yoon Seok-jin, Director of Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Cho Hyun-dae, Director of Korea Creative Content Agency, Choi Jae-kyung, Director of Institute for Basic Science, and Choi Kyu-hak, Chairman of Surim Cultural Foundation attended to discuss various sharing and cooperation plans centered on Hongneung.
Following this, cases of Kookmin University for creating a community of coexistence were presented. Professors Moon Young and Seo Hee-young from the Department of Performing Arts, Dance Major at Kookmin University introduced achievements that solved community problems and created new community values through art by cooperating among the university, local community, artists, and citizens under the theme ‘The Path is Made by Walking First - Specialized Curriculum for Dance Major: Community Art.’
Next, Professor Kim Yeon-hee from the Graduate School of Public Administration, Museum and Art Museum Major at Kookmin University presented on ‘Community Spirit and Pragmatism-Based Convergence Education: Team Team Class,’ and Professor Yang Ji-hyun from the Department of Automotive Engineering and Future Mobility at Kookmin University gave a presentation on ‘A New Paradigm of Future University Breaking the Boundaries of University Education: Future Automobile Innovation Convergence University.’ In particular, Professor Yang introduced the process and achievements of establishing a national-level core talent training system by sharing human and material resources among seven universities centered on Kookmin University to bridge educational capacity gaps between regions and universities in the future automobile field. This was followed by a panel discussion on breaking down the boundaries of Hongneung and sharing cooperation plans in response to the transition to a digital society.
Lim Hong-jae, President of Kookmin University, stated, “In this situation where rapid development of future technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) demands a new paradigm of innovation and continuous change and challenges, the goal of the Hongneung Forum is to seek a path of coexistence based on sharing and collaboration among universities, research institutes, and public institutions in the Hongneung area.” He added, “I sincerely hope this forum will become an opportunity to connect our university and everyone present here.”
