Dong-Eui Science University Department of Nursing Donates Rice to Elderly in Busanjin-gu

The Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology initiated a rice collection campaign last May to share the warmth of a bowl of rice with the elderly in Busanjin-gu.

The rice collection campaign began with rice sent by Giant Hospital and 2023 Nightingale Award recipient alumna Im Songhwa to celebrate the 2023 Nightingale Oath Ceremony,

and was promoted by the student council to reflect on the spirit of nursing.

Student Council President Won Jinseon, current students, the department head, and professors delivered 270 kg of rice to Onmaeul Sarangchae on the 2nd, and this rice will be provided as meals to elderly individuals under the integrated community care program in Busanjin-gu.

Student Council President Won Jinseon said, “In these difficult economic times, it was a meaningful moment to gather the small hearts of each person and convey warm feelings to the local elderly.”

Department Head Kang Hyojeong said, “It is admirable that the students voluntarily practiced sharing for the local elderly, following the spirit of Nightingale,” and added, “In response to the students’ intentions, the department will actively take the lead in local volunteer work and support for the elderly.”
