Picking up while jogging... Korea National Oil Corporation's 'G9' Plogging at Ulsan Dong-gu Jujeon Coast

Saving the Earth 'Plogging Relay', Practicing ESG Management

Ulsan Jung-gu Family Center and Multicultural Family Volunteer Group Together

Employees of Korea National Oil Corporation (President Kim Dong-seop) held a ‘plogging’ event on the coast of Jujeon-dong, Dong-gu, Ulsan on the 8th, ahead of the peak summer vacation season.

The Oil Corporation explained, “Considering the business characteristics of developing oil resources on land and at sea, we are conducting environmental cleanup activities as part of our social responsibility efforts to create a clean and pleasant living environment.”

The corporation selected the program, where participants exercise while picking up household waste, called ‘Saving the Earth G9 (Earth) Plogging,’ as a key practice for ESG management this year.

Picking up while jogging... Korea National Oil Corporation's 'G9' Plogging at Ulsan Dong-gu Jujeon Coast Employees of the Korea National Oil Corporation are participating in plogging activities at Ulsan Jujeon Coast along with volunteers from Jung-gu Family Center and multicultural families.

They plan to continuously carry out environmental cleanup activities at the Ulsan headquarters and nine storage branch locations.

G9 (Earth) is a symbolic term created by connecting the nine cities where the Oil Corporation’s headquarters and storage bases are located, inspired by the letter G, the initial of the English word Green, and the fact that there are a total of nine storage base cities.

About 40 people, including Oil Corporation employees, Jung-gu Family Center members, and volunteers from local multicultural families, also participated in the environmental cleanup activities in Ulsan that day. They collected various types of trash amounting to 2,000 liters, such as plastic bags, disposable products, and waste plastics, along the coastal road and sandy beach area of Jujeon Beach.

An Oil Corporation employee who participated in the volunteer work said, “We will continue plogging activities with more citizens to create a pleasant and clean living environment.”

Following last year’s projects such as ice pack recycling, coffee grounds recycling, and used office PC recycling, the Oil Corporation plans to promote various eco-friendly projects this year as well, including recycling of discarded eyeglass frames and upcycling programs for waste PET bottles.
