Gurye-gun Launches Special Crackdown on Environmental Pollution Activities

For Private Sewage and Livestock Manure Facilities, Waste Disposal Business Sites

Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will conduct a special crackdown on environmental pollution activities targeting major riversides during the summer heavy rainfall period, wastewater and air emission facilities, individual sewage and livestock manure discharge facilities, and waste disposal business sites.

This crackdown is being promoted with the purpose of preventing environmental pollutants from flowing into public waters along with rainwater during the heavy rainfall period through prior inspection of discharge facilities within business sites, and to prevent the occurrence of green algae and illegal environmental pollution activities.

The county plans to form its own inspection team to focus on checking whether discharge and prevention facilities are operating normally, whether unauthorized or unreported discharge facilities are installed, and whether discharge standards are being complied with.

In addition, during the rainy season and heavy rainfall periods, the county will crack down on environmental pollution activities such as illegal dumping of environmental pollutants stored or left unattended within business sites.

The county will carry out prior publicity and guidance activities until the end of June, intensive crackdowns and monitoring activities in July and August, and facility restoration and technical support activities at the end of August.

For business sites where illegal activities are discovered, administrative measures such as facility improvement orders and fines will be taken, and strong measures such as criminal prosecution will be enforced against willful and habitual violators.
