"Enjoy Rare Photos of Danuri in Actual Size"

KAIST, Exhibition from August 1 to August 31

South Korea's first lunar exploration orbiter, 'Danuri,' offers an opportunity to view spectacular and rare photos in a super-large size.

"Enjoy Rare Photos of Danuri in Actual Size" KAIST is hosting an exhibition titled "Danuri's Spectacle" in the lobby of the Creative Learning Center at its Daejeon main campus. The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced on the 8th that it will hold an exhibition to celebrate Danuri's success and honor the achievements of alumni and researchers who led the mission.

The photo exhibition "Danuri's Spectacle," hosted by the KAIST Museum of Art and in collaboration with the Satellite Technology Research Center (SaTReC), the Department of Aerospace Engineering, and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), officially opened yesterday afternoon in the lobby of the KAIST Creative Learning Center located in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon.

Visitors can see 15 photos taken by Danuri during its space exploration. Notably, one photo captured from about 500,000 km from Earth and approximately 120,000 km from the Moon shows Earth and the Moon side by side. Both celestial bodies appear almost the same size. The sunlight was shining from the same direction at the time of shooting, casting identical shadows, allowing viewers to appreciate this rare scene.

In addition, photos taken by Danuri of the far side of the Moon and other images are displayed alongside a model of Danuri reduced to one-third its actual size. Visitors can experience a three-dimensional viewing method facing Earth or the Moon from Danuri's perspective.

The exhibition was directly planned by Kim Daegwan, head of the Future Innovation Research Center at KARI and a KAIST aerospace engineering alumnus who oversaw the Danuri lunar exploration project.

Director Kim expressed his participation thoughts, saying, "I hope this photo exhibition, where science and art naturally meet, will provide many KAIST students with the opportunity to dream beyond the Moon to explore the farther reaches of space."

The event started on the 1st and will be open for free viewing until August 31.
