HanmiGlobal, a construction project management specialist company, is drawing attention by introducing a groundbreaking welfare system that guarantees a special promotion upon the birth of a third child.

On the 8th, HanmiGlobal announced that it will revamp its welfare system to encourage childbirth and create a family-friendly work environment.

Accordingly, employees who have a third child will be promoted immediately to the next higher rank without any conditions such as promotion eligibility period or performance evaluation, and from the fourth child onward, childcare assistants will be provided for one year immediately after childbirth.

All employees who give birth will receive 90 days of statutory maternity leave and 30 days of special maternity leave with pay, regardless of the number of children, and will be paid the same monthly salary during the three months of parental leave as before the leave.

During the childcare period, a flexible work system will be introduced, allowing employees with children under 8 years old to work from home for two years. When the child enters elementary school, employees can take one week of paid leave or shorten their working hours by two hours per day for four weeks to help the child adapt to school life.

In addition, HanmiGlobal has established welfare policies such as ▲payment of childbirth support funds ▲mandatory use of maternity leave and parental leave upon childbirth ▲housing loan support up to 100 million KRW upon marriage.

Park Jung-wook, head of HanmiGlobal’s HR team, stated, "We aim to achieve an in-house birth rate of 2.0 within the next 10 years by supplementing various systems to encourage childbirth and become a model of family-friendly management."

Besides HanmiGlobal, several domestic companies are independently establishing welfare systems to overcome the low birthrate issue.

SK Innovation operates systems such as pre-childbirth leave, reduced working hours during childcare, and automatic conversion to parental leave to encourage childbirth.

The automatic parental leave conversion system grants one year and three months of parental leave automatically along with maternity leave, allowing employees to use it without worrying about company pressure.

POSCO is also implementing various childbirth encouragement policies tailored to individual life cycles.

For example, employees with children under 8 years old can apply for full-day (8 hours) or half-day (4 hours) work-from-home under the 'childcare period work-from-home system without career interruption.'
