The proportion of graduates, including repeat test-takers (N-su students) who were unable to undergo a normal exam preparation period due to COVID-19, is increasing in both the 2023 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) (16.1%) and the upcoming 2024 CSAT (19%) as of the June evaluation institute data. This indicates fierce competition with current high school seniors in both early admission and regular admission processes.
Gangnam Jongno M Dormitory Academy, located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, operates a comprehensive study management system designed to rapidly improve academic achievement and produce stable CSAT scores in the long term for repeat and re-enrolling students preparing for the September evaluation institute exam and the November CSAT.
First, one college entrance strategy advisor organizes a class of fewer than 30 students by level based on evaluation institute scores and school transcript grades. With support from the Admissions Strategy Research Institute, they establish specialized early and regular admission application strategies tailored to each student's characteristics. At the same time, they provide weekly study planner management and continuous subject counseling with teachers to ensure systematic CSAT preparation.
The CSAT-specialized teaching staff, who have consistently achieved excellent admissions results over many years, offer segmented classes by subject and level in Korean, English, and Mathematics. In particular, for the mathematics section, group classes (Excellent Group I, II, III) are separately operated to maximize CSAT learning ability in a short period for students who have not yet established fundamental concepts and principles across subjects. This reflects a sincere effort to prevent any student from falling behind in mathematics, which is increasingly important for admission to top-tier universities.
All classes are conducted under a self-selection system according to student needs, allowing students to choose classes and teachers that match their individual learning styles. This enables rapid academic achievement improvement and student-centered academic management.
Additionally, 1:1 mentoring, presentations (PT), special lectures on Korean, English, and Mathematics planning, and university-specific exam special lectures are utilized to support repetitive learning of content covered in regular classes and continuous focused supplementation of weak areas.
The dormitory is composed of double and triple rooms to provide a comfortable rest after CSAT study preparation. Each room includes a bathroom with a shower booth, allowing for a more pleasant rest environment. Furthermore, healthy and delicious meals are provided by Dongwon Home Food, a catering company operated by a major corporation.
Jung Taegyu, director of Gangnam Jongno M Dormitory Academy, stated, “We are doing our best to support all enrolled students in achieving their dreams of successful university admission through a thorough student-centered comprehensive management system that can lead to real academic achievement improvement,” and added, “We will provide the optimal learning environment for repeat test-takers who want to maintain a stable exam preparation life within a systematic management system.”
Gangnam Jongno M Dormitory Academy is recruiting regular re-enrollment classes on a first-come, first-served basis in two rounds on Saturday, June 17, and Saturday, June 24.
