Dongdaemun-gu Installs and Operates 28 ‘Logojectors’ to Strengthen Promotion of Proper Recycling Separation
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) has installed and is operating ‘Logojectors’ that inform residents about household waste that cannot be recycled, thereby enhancing the promotion of proper waste separation and providing a bright walking environment for nighttime pedestrians.
‘Logojector’ is a compound word of logo and projector, a nighttime landscape lighting device installed on security lights and street lamps that projects specific logos or phrases onto the ground or walls.
The district installed 28 Logojectors mainly in locations recommended by local community centers and on side streets with high foot traffic.
These Logojectors clearly inform whether ambiguous items?such as ▲cup noodle containers with foreign substances ▲mixed-material items like stationery, toothbrushes, and ice packs ▲fruit packaging, which people think they know well but find difficult to dispose of properly?are recyclable.
The three aforementioned items are all non-recyclable waste and must be disposed of as general garbage.
Song Young-chul, Director of the Cleaning Administration Division, said, “We designed the image of these Logojectors to be friendly and warm, illuminating dark streets and helping proper recycling separation. We will continue to promote various recycling separation projects to make Dongdaemun-gu a leader in resource circulation.”
