Earlier that day, around 8:25 a.m., an escalator at exit 2 of Bundang Line Sunae Station operated in reverse, causing 14 people to be injured. Of the 14 injured, 11 were sent home, and 3 were transported to a nearby hospital. An employee of Korea Railroad Corporation accompanied them to the hospital to monitor their condition.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport immediately dispatched railway safety inspectors, railway police, and inspectors from the Korea Transportation Safety Authority to the accident site.

The Ministry plans to thoroughly investigate the inspection methods, maintenance of the railway safety management system, compliance with railway facility maintenance, and any violations of the Railway Safety Act related to this accident. If any violations are found in escalator maintenance or other areas, corrective measures will be taken.
