Future Air Mobility (AAM: Advanced Air Mobility) is a concept that extends beyond Urban Air Mobility (UAM), which has been the subject of much recent research, to include air transportation between regions.
In addition to GS Construction, the signing ceremony was attended by Gyeongsang National University, Gyeongsang National University Hospital, GS Caltex, LG Uplus, and KAI. Through this business agreement, Jinju City plans to establish a foundation for providing emergency medical transport services in Jinju and nearby areas, centered on Gyeongsang National University Hospital, the responsible medical institution for the Gyeongnam region.
GS Construction will be responsible for the construction of vertiports (vertical takeoff and landing pads), research on operation technologies, and system development under this agreement. Jinju City will provide administrative and financial support to create the Korean-style AAM industrial ecosystem; Gyeongsang National University will train experts in the UAM field; Gyeongsang National University Hospital will utilize infrastructure for the pilot city project and provide advisory services for emergency medical service operations; KAI will develop aircraft; LG Uplus will conduct research and demonstration projects on traffic management platforms; and GS Caltex will provide local gas station sites that can be used as vertiports.
Meanwhile, GS Construction plans to actively pursue securing an end-to-end vertiport solution covering everything from design to operation and to discover various business models based on vertiports in relation to the UAM business. Previously, GS Construction signed an MOU with Busan City in July last year for the early commercialization of UAM and a Phase 1 agreement for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s "K-UAM Grand Challenge Demonstration Project" in February this year.
Heo Yoon-hong, Head of Future Innovation at GS Construction, stated, "Through this business agreement, we expect improvements in medical services by expanding the eco-friendly air mobility sector and utilizing technology that enables interregional movement to solve emergency medical transport issues." He added, "GS Construction will strive to secure public accessibility so that any citizen can easily use UAM services as we promote the UAM business."
