KOTRA Supports Domestic Companies' Participation in Chile Training Aircraft Modernization Project

Chilean State Airline (Enaer) GP Pinpoint Consultation Held
Establishing a Stepping Stone for Entry into Chilean Aviation and Defense Industry Supply Chains

KOTRA will hold the 'Chile State-Owned Airline ENAER GP Pinpoint Consultation' online for ten days starting from the 8th. This event marks the first collaborative project with ENAER, Chile's sole aircraft manufacturer, and was organized to support the participation of Korean companies in the 'Trainer Modernization Project (Pill?n II)' announced by the Chilean Ministry of National Defense in October 2022.

ENAER plans to produce 33 new trainer aircraft (Pill?n II), an upgraded version of the existing trainer (T-35 Pill?n), and deliver them to the Chilean Air Force between 2027 and 2030. Since its establishment in 1984, ENAER has developed and produced the primary trainer (T-35 Pill?n), which has been sold in 139 units not only in Chile but also in Spain and six neighboring Latin American countries.

The new Pill?n II trainer will incorporate cutting-edge technologies in key elements such as interior and exterior design, electronic equipment, carbon fiber composite materials, folding wings, and power systems. This event is expected to provide an opportunity for Korean companies to actively enter the Chilean aircraft manufacturing supply chain.

At the briefing held on the first day of the event, ENAER will introduce ▲ company overview ▲ progress of the new trainer (Pill?n II) project ▲ areas and detailed items for cooperation with Korean companies. Following this, one-on-one consultations between ENAER procurement officers and domestic aerospace materials, parts, and defense companies will take place over ten days. The participation of Korean companies with technological capabilities in fields such as mobile communication systems, sensors, and composites is highly anticipated.

Jung Wooyoung, Head of KOTRA's Innovation Growth Division, stated, "Collaboration with the Chilean state-owned airline is an important opportunity to expand the entry of our materials, parts, and defense companies into the global supply chain," adding, "We will actively support Korean companies to make their entry into Chile more vigorous through this event."
