Gyeonggi-do to Hold Industry-Academia-Research-Government Joint Agreement Ceremony for Semiconductor Talent Development on the 12th Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province will hold a signing ceremony with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and local universities to foster outstanding semiconductor talent.


On the 12th, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 8th that it will hold a joint agreement ceremony among industry, academia, research, and government organizations in Gyeonggi Province, including the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, Kyonggi University, Myongji University, Korea Polytechnic University, and the Next-Generation Convergence Technology Institute at the Next-Generation Convergence Technology Institute in Suwon.


This event is significant as it marks a commitment among the province, educational institutions, industries, research institutes, and universities to cooperate for the efficient cultivation of semiconductor talent in Gyeonggi Province, the center of the domestic semiconductor industry.


The signing ceremony will be attended by Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon, Gyeonggi Superintendent of Education Lim Tae-hee, Next-Generation Convergence Technology Institute Director Cha Seok-won, Kyonggi University President Lee Yoon-kyu, Myongji University President Yoo Byung-jin, Korea Polytechnic University President Park Geon-su, and representatives from semiconductor companies, totaling heads of 13 institutions.


According to the agreement, the participating institutions will join forces in ▲cooperation for semiconductor workforce supply ▲efforts to revitalize public education ▲strengthening teacher capabilities and supporting excellent instructors from the industry.


After the signing ceremony, a talk show will be held with Governor Kim Dong-yeon and Superintendent Lim Tae-hee attending, featuring 100 students from specialized high schools. The talk show is expected to be a free Q&A session where students can ask about semiconductor-related college admissions, employment, and hear life stories from the governor and superintendent as senior mentors.


Song Eun-sil, head of the Semiconductor Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, explained, "Semiconductors are a core industry in the economic security hegemony competition, and talent development is the most important factor for the growth of the domestic semiconductor industry." She added, "Gyeonggi Province plans to implement comprehensive and systematic talent development policies in cooperation with all institutions within the province."
