10 AM on the 7th at Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, Busan Senior Citizens Association Federation and 16 District Branches

Busan City will hold the "43rd Busan Metropolitan City Mayor's Senior Sports Festival" at 10 a.m. on the 7th at the Busan Sports Complex Gymnasium.

Now in its 43rd year, the Senior Sports Festival is a sports event hosted by Busan City and organized by the Busan City Federation of the Korean Senior Citizens Association. It is an occasion where local seniors gather to participate in various sports competitions, promoting health and camaraderie.

Especially as the event returns to its normal scale for the first time in three years since COVID-19, the competition will be conducted with the utmost priority on the safety of the seniors. The city expects this year's festival to be a time for seniors, who have faced difficulties in sports activities, to recharge their vitality by competing in senior sports events.

About 3,500 participants, including players in 8 events from 16 district and county branches, including the Busan City Federation of the Korean Senior Citizens Association (President Moon Woo-taek), will attend this year's festival.

The event will proceed in the order of ▲pre-event performance ▲Part 1 opening ceremony ▲Part 2 sports competitions ▲Part 3 closing ceremony. Starting with the entrance of the participating teams from the 16 districts and counties, competitions will be held in four individual events (Janggi, Baduk, Hangung, Badminton) and four team events.

The teams winning in the individual events will qualify to participate in the national competition to be held in October. The branch that wins the overall individual event results will be awarded the 43rd Senior Sports Festival Busan Mayor's Cup.

Deputy Mayor Ahn Byung-yoon stated, "Healthy and happy lives for seniors require sound sports activities. We will gradually expand senior-customized sports facilities going forward," adding, "We will make further efforts to provide stable and happy senior lives by increasing spaces for healthy hobbies and learning."
