Operating the ‘4th Industrial Saturday Experience Class’ every Saturday in June to strengthen future competencies
Maker Convergence Education and Drone Education conducted on the 3rd... Focus enhanced through hands-on classes
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) is operating the ‘4th Industrial Saturday Experience Class’ every Saturday throughout June at the district office’s in-house academy and Dapsimni Film Media Art Center for children and adolescents to nurture future talents.
The ‘4th Industrial Saturday Experience Class’ recruited participants from May 4 to 26, and the first class began on the 3rd with 80 final selected participants. The education was conducted in two sessions, morning and afternoon, and concluded with great enthusiasm.
During the 2-hour Maker Convergence Education held from 10 a.m., various cases of maker convergence technologies used in the 4th industry were taught, along with hands-on practice assembling sensors and components to build a car.
A child who participated in the class said, “It was so much fun to build a car together with my friends.”
The drone class was held from 2 p.m. It included simple education on types of drones, various application cases, and operating principles, followed by students having time to operate drones themselves. The class was conducted with a focus on hands-on experience to increase concentration, allowing students more practice opportunities.
The 4th Industrial Saturday Experience Class will continue throughout June, and the second class on the 10th will offer education on creating personalized artificial intelligence using big data, as well as drone coding and flight filming practice.
A parent of a participant said, “4th industrial education is very popular in after-school classes, so it was difficult to participate, but I’m glad to be able to attend this education. I hope weekend education programs become more active so that children from dual-income families can also participate a lot.”
An official from the district stated, “We hope that students participating in the 4th Industrial Saturday Experience Class will develop interest and enthusiasm in the 4th industrial field through this education and grow into future core talents.”
Dongdaemun-gu plans to operate 4th industrial education projects such as ‘Visiting Future Education,’ ‘Summer Vacation Future Education Camp,’ and ‘Future Education Performance Exhibition,’ starting with the ‘4th Industrial Saturday Experience Class,’ as the ‘2022 Revised Curriculum’ mandating SW·AI education is gradually implemented from 2024.
