Pukyong National University Hosts Visiting 'Youth Maritime Humanities' Program

The Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group at Pukyong National University held a special lecture titled "2023 Youth Maritime Humanities Lecture" on the 5th at Bunpo Elementary School and Buheung Middle School near the university.


This lecture is an annual event aimed at fostering students' humanities understanding, imagination, and creativity regarding the sea, a distinctive feature of the Busan region.


On this day, experts from the HK+ Project Group gave lectures to the Jinro Toktok club students at Buheung Middle School, including ▲ Stories of the maritime historical tourist cities Shanghai and Beijing (Lecturer Kim Sung-ja) ▲ Traditional fishing culture of Gadeokdo Island (Lecturer Moon Hye-jin).


On the upcoming 15th, lectures will be held on ▲ The Sea is Our Future: Dreams and Challenges of the Ocean (Lecturer Park Se-heon) ▲ Haenyeo as Maritime Cultural Heritage (Lecturer Yoo Hyung-sook) ▲ Stories of Korean Seafarers' Global Voyages (Lecturer Ahn Mi-jung).

Pukyong National University Hosts Visiting 'Youth Maritime Humanities' Program A special lecture on maritime humanities for youth is being held at Buhung Middle School.

Prior to this, starting from the 12th of last month, lecturers composed of children's book authors have been conducting five sessions of lectures every Friday at Bunpo Elementary School for students in the reading club.


The lectures include ▲ The Adventures of the Fifteen Boys (Lecturer Lee Jae-min) ▲ The Meeting of Robinson Crusoe and Vendredi (Lecturer Lee Sang-mi) ▲ The Adventures of Marco Polo (Lecturer Kim Mi-yeon) ▲ Gulliver's Travels (Lecturer Park Mi-ra) ▲ Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (Lecturer Park Jeong-seon).


The Pukyong National University HK+ Project Group has been developing various programs combining the sea and humanities, such as "Youth Maritime Humanities," "Lunchbox Maritime Humanities Festival," "Northeast Asian Maritime Humanities Network International Conference," and "Pukyong Humanities One-day Special Lectures," which are provided free of charge to local residents.
