The Busan Agricultural Technology Center will create a 8,610㎡ rice paddy art using colored rice varieties on the 7th from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., wishing for the successful hosting of the 2030 World Expo in Busan.

Now in its seventh year, the "Colored Rice Paddy Art Project" selects a theme each year to enhance citizens' interest and understanding of agriculture and to promote Busan city administration.

This year's rice paddy art is themed "2030 Busan World Expo," utilizing green (regular rice) and three colored rice varieties in white, yellow, and purple. Busan’s promotional character "Bugi" holds a sign that reads "BUSAN KOREA," expressing the hope for Busan to be selected as the final host city for the 2030 World Expo.

Notably, young farmers from Busan are participating in creating this rice paddy art. Since drawing on the rice paddy as a canvas requires hand transplanting rather than machinery, the young farmers willingly contributed their efforts for the successful bid of the "2030 Busan World Expo."

A young farmer involved in the rice paddy art said, "Despite the busy agricultural season, the participation of many young farmers confirmed our passion for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo," adding, "We hope this sentiment reaches the headquarters of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) and representatives from various countries."

Kim Jeong-guk, director of the Busan Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "The hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo is a wish shared by all citizens, including Busan’s farmers," and added, "We will do our best to attract citizens' interest and promote the event until the final decision on the host city is made in November."
