Pet Dog Temperament Evaluation, Talk Show, and Sports Festival
New Products and Services Presented at 270 Booths
The Daegu Pet Show, a grand festival for ‘Meongnyangi’ with a 20-year history, is set to open as the largest event in Daegu and Gyeongbuk.
Hosted by Daegu City and organized by EXCO, the Korea Pet Food Association, and the Daegu Veterinary Medical Association, the ‘20th Daegu Pet Show’ will be held for three days from the 9th to the 11th at the EXCO East Hall exhibition center.
Alongside the industry exhibition, the ‘Companion Animal Culture Festival’ will showcase various companion culture experience programs such as dog temperament evaluation, talk shows, sports events, playground experiences, pet etiquette education, pre-adoption education, international dog shows, grooming contests, and companion animal aroma massage.
This exhibition will feature 270 booths from 150 companies, where visitors can compare and purchase a wide range of products including dog and cat food, snacks, supplements, houses, ID tags, and furniture all in one place.
This year, in addition to traditional product categories that have participated before, unique products such as raw food, hyperbaric oxygen therapy devices, and training-linked service apps will also be introduced.
A ‘Pet’stival corner will be set up where companion animals and their guardians can participate in sports events, OX quizzes, and charity auctions, with various prizes given on-site depending on the programs. The proceeds from the charity auction will be used to promote proper companion animal culture.
Additionally, on the 10th and 11th, a companion animal health checkup and an adoption promotion booth for abandoned animals will be operated for visitors, along with companion animal talk shows. Four veterinary hospital directors, including Director Park Soon-seok who appears on ‘TV Animal Farm,’ will participate as panelists to answer questions related to companion animals.
The temperament evaluation for companion animals, which will be implemented from next year, can also be experienced in advance. The Animal Protection Act has been revised and enforced from 2024 to require temperament evaluations regardless of breed for dogs that have bitten people or caused complaints due to aggression.
To promote this and foster a proper companion culture, the KCMC Cultural Center, led by Director Lee Woong-jong of Isak Dog Training Center, will participate in the Pet’stival event area inside the exhibition hall on the 9th. The center will conduct companion dog temperament tests and issue certificates of completion to dogs that pass.
The event viewing hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the admission fee is 8,000 KRW when purchased on-site. Admission is free with a certificate of completion from the online ‘Pre-Adoption Education for Companion Animals’ at the Animal Love Learning Center. For other inquiries, please contact the Daegu Pet Show Secretariat.
An Jung-gon, Director of the Daegu City Economic Bureau, said, “The Daegu Pet Show, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is a grand festival for companion animals, offering a rich variety of attractions and companion animal culture experience content that reflect changing trends.”
