Korea Racing Authority Character 'Kkaeali', Available for Everyone to Use!

Korea Racing Authority’s LetsRun Park Busan·Gyeongnam has registered the horse racing influencer character ‘Kkaeali’ on the public copyright site Gonggongnuri, making it available for anyone to use.

Public copyrights refer to works opened by the government or public institutions for free use by the private sector. Registered works can be checked on the Gonggongnuri site.

Users can utilize public copyrights without complicated procedures or copyright infringement concerns by simply confirming the Gonggongnuri type indication. Depending on the level of usage conditions, commercial use or modifications may be permitted or not, but attribution of the source is mandatory.

The newly registered public copyright character ‘Kkaeali’ is one of the Korea Racing Authority’s representative characters along with ‘Malma’ and ‘Bigto’.

Kkaeali, with the concept of a ‘horse racing influencer,’ actively shares detailed information and stories about the horse industry and horse racing through horse racing broadcasts and Instagram. Although a public institution character, thanks to its popularity, a special exhibition of Kkaeali goods was held last year in Nampo-dong, Busan.

The ‘Kkaeali’ character images in 2D and 3D versions can be downloaded for free from the Gonggongnuri site. For non-commercial use, it can be freely modified and used as a secondary work, and for commercial use, an application for character use must be submitted to LetsRun Park Busan·Gyeongnam Broadcasting.

Currently, local social enterprises and small business owners interested in character business are developing products, and various projects are planned to be linked and promoted to make the character more accessible in daily life.

Kim Jintae, head of the Busan Broadcasting Department, said, “We decided to make the Kkaeali character publicly available so that anyone can freely use it to widely promote its positive image and charm,” adding, “We hope that with the public’s interest and participation, the Kkaeali character will develop and be used in various ways in daily life, contributing to the development of the local economy.”
