EDM Festival at Seoul Land Suspected Drug Report "Handed Over to Police"

Three Men Including a Man in His 20s Scheduled for Summons Investigation

At the '2023 World DJ Festival,' a leading domestic EDM (Electronic Dance Music) festival held at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, a report of suspected drug dealing was received, prompting an investigation. The organizers stated, "A staff member discovered it during a patrol and handed the individual over to the police."

The Gwacheon Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 5th that they have launched a preliminary investigation (pre-indictment inquiry) into three individuals in their 20s, including Mr. A, who was reported for suspected drug dealing.

On the 3rd at around 5:05 PM, the police received a 112 report stating, "Someone is exchanging what appears to be drugs in the restroom inside the festival venue."

Police who responded to the report found Mr. A and two others near the restroom indicated by the informant at around 5:35 PM, but it was confirmed that they were not in possession of drugs or related items at that time.

The police attempted to take them for a voluntary drug test, but as they refused to accompany the officers voluntarily, only their personal information was recorded before they were released for the time being.

The police plan to summon them soon to investigate whether there are any charges related to drug dealing or consumption.

A police official stated, "No drugs were found in their belongings, and since they refused voluntary accompaniment, they were released for now. We plan to conduct drug tests again as soon as possible, and if they refuse, we are also considering applying for a search warrant."

Regarding this, the '2023 World DJ Festival' organizers said in a press release on the 5th, "It was not a general attendee but a festival staff member who, during a patrol inside the venue, discovered a person suspected of drug-related activity, immediately separated them from the audience, and voluntarily reported to the police."

They added, "To prevent even the smallest act of bringing in or using drugs inside the venue, we conducted thorough inspections and management of brought-in items and carried out intensive regular patrols by specialized personnel."

They also stated, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that no drug-related incidents occur within the festival."

The 2023 World DJ Festival was an EDM festival held from the 2nd to the 4th at Seoul Land in Gwacheon.
