Jeongeup-si Conducts Demand Survey for New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Public Project

Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 5th that it will conduct a demand survey for applicants wishing to participate in the ‘2024 New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project’ implemented by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy until the 20th.

The convergence support project is a program in which the government and local governments partially support installation costs to build energy self-sufficient villages by installing new and renewable energy facilities (solar power, solar heat, geothermal) tailored to regional characteristics.

The target areas for next year’s project application are six neighborhoods: Suseong-dong, Jangmyeong-dong, Naejangsang-dong, Sigidong, Chosan-dong, and Yeonji-dong. Homeowners or building owners who wish to participate (unauthorized or unregistered buildings are excluded from the project) can apply to the consortium company through the application boxes installed at each neighborhood community center by the 20th.

This nationwide public contest for local governments requires applications to be submitted to the Korea Energy Agency by the end of this month. After evaluation, the final selection results will be announced in October.

Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “Due to recent increases in electricity and fuel costs, household burdens are expected to intensify further,” adding, “We will strive to contribute to expanding the supply of eco-friendly energy and increasing energy self-sufficiency.”

Meanwhile, Jeongeup City, which has been selected for the public contest for three consecutive years since 2021, supported the installation of 466 facilities (441 solar power, 15 solar heat, 10 geothermal) in 11 towns and townships by last year.

This year, 431 facilities (386 solar power, 30 solar heat, 15 geothermal) are planned to be installed in six towns and neighborhoods.
