Exposed Parts Flashing Babari Man... Elementary Students Chased and Caught Him

"A friend was attacked, so I chased after them
Fortunately, the police arrived quickly after the report"

A man in his 20s, known as a 'Babariman,' who exposed his private parts on the street was caught after being chased and reported by elementary school students.

According to YTN on the 5th, on the 31st of last month in Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongbuk, a man in his 20s, Mr. A, who exposed his private parts in front of elementary school students and then fled, was captured along with footage of the victim students chasing him.

At the time, nearby CCTV footage showed Mr. A wearing a mask, a black T-shirt, and gray training pants, looking around near a crosswalk before walking away. Then, one elementary school student ran urgently but stopped briefly due to the traffic signal change. Following that, four elementary school students crossed the crosswalk together and ran after him.

The students kept their distance while chasing the man and reported his appearance and the direction he was fleeing to the police.

Thanks to the calm response of the fifth-grade elementary students, Mr. A, the man in his 20s, was eventually caught by the police about 300 meters away from the crime scene.

The victim students told YTN, "At first, we thought he was a strange person and were scared, but then he exposed his private parts above the waistband of his pants."

They added, "Since one of our friends was victimized, we thought we had to chase and catch him. We reported quickly because we thought if we didn’t handle this calmly, the situation would escalate. We are thankful the police were patrolling nearby and arrived quickly."

Police investigation revealed that Mr. A is a university student. The police identified that he lives near the crime location and has committed similar offenses multiple times in the nearby area.

Those convicted of public indecency may face imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of up to 5 million won, detention, or a fine (a criminal penalty requiring payment of a certain amount of property).

The courts tend to impose somewhat heavy sentences on so-called Babariman suspects who make various excuses such as "I was urinating" or "The wind blew my clothes."

In fact, last year, the Daegu District Court sentenced Mr. B, who was indicted for public indecency, to a fine of 1.5 million won, ordered him to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment programs, and imposed a three-year employment restriction at institutions related to children, adolescents, or persons with disabilities. Mr. B was accused of exposing his genitals by lowering his pants and underwear in broad daylight in front of a shopping area in Jung-gu, Daegu, in October 2021.
