On the 2nd, Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station announced on the 4th that it conducted a safety campaign for school commute safety to foster fire safety awareness together with the Korea 119 Youth Corps at Gwangju Munhwa Elementary School in Duam-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
This campaign was promoted to instill pride and a sense of belonging as members of the Korea 119 Youth Corps and to contribute to strengthening fire safety awareness and spreading a safety culture among elementary school students.
The Korea 119 Youth Corps was first established in 1963 with the goal of cultivating healthy children who prioritize safety by developing awareness and habits regarding safety from an early age.
The Korea 119 Youth Corps supported by Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station is organized with 103 members across four teams, including Gwangju Munhwa Elementary School, and participates in various fire safety culture events such as the 119 Firefighting Colleague Contest, acting as future safety leaders.
A fire official stated, "Through this campaign, we hope to remind everyone of the importance of fire safety in daily life and that the Korea 119 Youth Corps members can play a leading role in spreading fire safety culture among children."
