Dongdaemun-gu Holds Campaign to Commemorate 2023 Environment Day

‘Eco-friendly Fans and Air Purifying Plants’ Provided... Environment Day Character Winner Selected by Resident Vote

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will hold the ‘Environment Guardian Leader! Join Dongdaemun-gu’ campaign on the 5th in celebration of the 2023 ‘Environment Day’ together with the Dongdaemun-gu 2050 Carbon Neutrality Practice Group.

The district prepared this campaign to engage residents in ‘carbon neutrality practice activities’ that provide corresponding rewards for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, effectively making the actual emissions ‘0’.

The carbon neutrality practice campaign, held from 10 a.m. on the 5th at ‘Jungnangcheon No. 1 Sports Park,’ will operate experience booths (EM mud ball throwing, Energy OX quiz) and promotion booths (EM fermentation liquid information, Eco Mileage promotion) to build resident consensus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in daily life.

As a side event, the winning entry of the ‘Environment Day Character Contest’ held for Dongdaemun-gu youth climate environment guardians will be selected by direct voting from residents participating in the campaign.

Participants will receive ‘eco-friendly fans’ printed with the winning slogans from the ‘Earth Day Slogan Contest’ and ‘air purifying plants’ planted in hydroponic pots recycled from disposable plastic cups.

A district official stated, “We will continue to spread an ‘eco-friendly culture’ that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and protects the Earth to build resident consensus on the necessity of carbon neutrality.”
