Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation conducted a familiarization tour to develop a historical educational tourism product centered on former President Park Chung-hee, aiming to promote the history and culture of South Korea.
The familiarization tour took place over two days starting on the 1st, visiting major historical and cultural tourist sites in the Gyeongbuk region, including Samyeonggak in Gimcheon, the birthplace of former President Park Chung-hee in Gumi, and Cheongunggak in Mungyeong.
This event was held for 20 representatives and product developers from domestic travel agencies, allowing them to experience Gyeongbuk’s historical sites and culture firsthand and develop new tourism products based on these experiences.
Travelers participating in the fam tour organized by the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation are taking commemorative photos in front of the birthplace of former President Park Chung-hee.
Through this familiarization tour, Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation plans to widely promote Gyeongbuk’s unique and rich historical and cultural resources, focusing on developing and marketing various new tourism products based on them. To this end, they will pursue the creation of new products linked to local specialized festivals and maximize the promotional effect of historical educational tourism products by inviting famous travel influencers to familiarization tours.
Kim Seong-jo, President of Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation, stated, “Gyeongbuk is a region rich in history and culture and has produced numerous great figures who contributed to the rise of South Korea. Developing tourism products based on this will greatly enhance Gyeongbuk’s tourism competitiveness.” He added, “Through this familiarization tour, participants will gain a deep understanding of Gyeongbuk’s history and culture and develop and operate various historical educational tourism products based on this understanding.”
He also said, “In line with the new paradigm shift in the tourism industry, we are focusing on promoting Gyeongbuk’s unique history and culture through historical educational tourism, operating various programs and developing products for this purpose,” and expressed a strong commitment, saying, “Through these efforts, we will develop tourism resources in the Gyeongbuk region and contribute to revitalizing the local economy through the development of the tourism industry.”
In addition, Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation is conducting several tourism promotion projects, including ‘Oiso TV,’ which introduces various historical educational tourist sites such as Cheongunggak in Mungyeong, the Saemaeul Movement Memorial Park in Cheongdo, the Sabang Memorial Hall in Pohang, and the old military governor’s residence from 1962 in Ulleung.
