Kim Dong-yeon Attending 'Gyeonggi-do Pet Star' Says "Leading the Way to a Pet Paradise" Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon (left) is attending Pet Star held at the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building on the 3rd and talking with trainer Kang Hyung-wook.

Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated that Gyeonggi Province is taking the lead in creating a pet paradise.

On the 3rd, Governor Kim attended the 'Another Family, 2023 Gyeonggi PETSTA' held at the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Paldal Building and emphasized, "Trainer Kang Hyung-wook said that a paradise where people live with pets will come in 15 years, and Gyeonggi Province is leading the way."

He continued, "Gyeonggi Province was the first and only region in the country to establish the Livestock Animal Welfare Bureau, and it is the only place nationwide where a special judicial police unit cracks down on animal abuse, achieving significant results. This summer, we will open a center in Yeoju where people can be with their pets. It will have the largest and best facilities in Korea, designed not only for abandoned pets but also for pet families to play together. Please be sure to visit once it opens," he urged.

Gyeonggi Province, together with the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, organized PETSTA over two days on the 3rd and 4th to promote a healthy pet culture.

The main events include ▲a lecture by animal trainer Kang Hyung-wook ▲a pet awareness improvement campaign ▲Pet Owners' Abnormal Summit ▲Gyeonggi Opportunity Market ▲pet health checkups and grooming experiences.

On the same day, Gyeonggi Province also held an award ceremony for the 'Gyeonggi Province Pet Complex Cultural Space Naming Contest.' The winning entry was 'Gyeonggi Banryeo Maru Yeoju,' meaning a space where pets gather and share stories.

Scheduled to open in July, Gyeonggi Banryeo Maru Yeoju was established in the Sanggeo-dong area of Yeoju City with the goal of realizing a "happy world where people and animals live together."

Here, activities such as abandoned animal protection and free adoption, adopter family education and aftercare, volunteer support, life respect education, training of related experts, and fostering the pet industry will be promoted.

A total of 48.9 billion KRW has been invested to develop a 165,200㎡ site equipped with pet protection cultural spaces and pet healing spaces.

After the naming contest award ceremony, Governor Kim Dong-yeon experienced homemade dog treats, dog grooming, family photos with dogs, and Dalryeogalgae (an activity to check bonding with dogs) with trainer Kang Hyung-wook.

Meanwhile, on the 4th, the event will include the 'Pet Owners' Abnormal Summit,' where foreigners freely discuss pet cultures from around the world, hosted by broadcaster Park Soo-hong.
