Hundreds Dead in India Train Accident... Indian Embassy in Korea Says "No Korean Casualties So Far"

It is reported that there are no Korean casualties among the victims of the train collision accident in India that killed hundreds.

According to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in India on the 3rd, no Korean casualties have been identified so far in connection with the train collision accident that occurred the previous day in Odisha state, eastern India.

In Odisha state in northeastern India, a tragic accident occurred on the afternoon of the 2nd (local time) when two passenger trains collided, resulting in at least 233 deaths.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in India stated, "As of this morning, based on information gathered through Indian police authorities, it has been confirmed that there are no foreigners, including Koreans, among the casualties."

Earlier, on the 2nd near Balasore in Odisha state, a passenger train derailed and was then hit by another train, which in turn was struck by a stationary freight train, causing a tragic accident.

Indian media such as NDTV and major international news outlets, citing officials, reported that at least 233 people died and more than 900 were injured in the accident.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "I am saddened by this accident. I stand with the bereaved families." He added, "Rescue operations are underway at the accident site. We will provide all possible support to those affected. I hope the injured recover quickly."
