March 3-11, 'KOREA 2030km' Held... Supporting 2030 Busan World Expo Bid
Worldwide Amateur Cyclists Nationwide 2030km... 203-Hour Bicycle Course
Busan City will hold the 'KOREA 2030km' event for nine days from the 3rd to the 11th.
Sponsored by Busan City and organized by the Korea Randonneurs Association, this event is a long-distance non-competitive race where 250 amateur cyclists tour 2030 km nationwide by bicycle to support Busan's bid to host the 2030 World Expo.
It is a non-competitive event, not a race for ranking as a brevet certified by the World Randonneurs Association, where participants aim to complete the designated course within the time limit of 203 hours using their own strength without external assistance.
Brevet is a French word meaning recognition or certification.
The event starts at 6 a.m. on the 3rd from Spo1 Geumjeong Sports Park, passing through Hapcheon and Yeosu, reaching the southernmost village, then Jeongeup, Dangjin, Cheonan, arriving in Seoul, then passing Yangpyeong, Hoengseong in Gangwon Province, Daegwallyeong, Jeongdongjin, along the east coast through Samcheok and Yeongdeok, and finally returning to the starting point in Busan, covering a total distance of 2030 km.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “This event, which is non-competitive and a battle against oneself to support Busan's bid for the World Expo, aligns with the purpose of the Expo to reflect on the development of human civilization and address the challenges humanity currently faces.” He added, “Like the passion of the randonneurs touring 2030 km nationwide, we will do our best to widely promote Busan until the bid decision announcement in November.”
