Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Yoon Kyung-hee) has begun harvesting barley at the local representative flower garden, ‘Sanso Cafe Cheongsong Garden’ (approximately 42,000 pyeong).

The county established a barley field in Cheongsong Garden to provide visitors who come to Cheongsong in spring with new sights and a healing space during the non-flowering period. It has been open for free since April 29, receiving great love from visitors with the spectacular waves of fresh green and the relaxation offered by nature.

Now, the barley is harvested at the yellowing stage (Hwangsukgi), when the tips of the barley stalks turn yellow and the protein content and fiber are rich. This aims to reduce mixed feed costs for local livestock farmers and contribute to producing clean livestock products, thereby generating additional income.

The barley in Cheongsong Garden will be harvested starting June 2, and in early July, plans are in place to create the largest domestic zinnia field together with members of local native organizations.

In autumn, when Cheongsong apples ripen yellow and red, and the zinnias bloom in Cheongsong Garden, it is expected to become a clean and healing resort destination full of feelings and rest, attracting numerous tourists and greatly benefiting the local economy.

Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “Cheongsong Garden has offered residents and tourists the beauty of fresh green waves from spring to early summer and the joy of a bountiful harvest in June. Going forward, we will carefully cultivate the colorful zinnia flowers to prepare for autumn visitors. We hope many people will visit and create unforgettable memories in Cheongsong.”
