Korea National Oil Corporation Presents Oil Development Research Results at the Korean Society of Petroleum Engineering Spring Conference

Korea National Oil Corporation participated in the 2023 Spring Conference of the Korean Society of Petroleum Engineering held at Hanyang University on the 1st and 2nd, presenting research results on oil and gas exploration, development, and production.


On this day, the corporation presented petroleum and gas development technologies such as "Case Study of McMurray SAGD Reservoir History Matching," "Application of Oversize ESP to Wells with High Impurity Occurrence in Central Asian Onshore Blocks," and "Enhancing the Value of Small-scale Oilfield Development through Dual Lateral Drilling." Additionally, research results in the field of machine learning were presented under the title "Study on the Field Applicability of Drilling Rate Optimization Based on Machine Learning Models."


Separately, the corporation operated a promotional booth introducing the status of oil and gas development projects, national research projects on unconventional oil production plants, and the disclosure system of petroleum development technology data databases.

Seo Jeong-gyu, Head of the Global Technology Center, stated, "Korea National Oil Corporation is conducting a total of 31 oil and gas exploration, development, and production projects in 18 countries as a global energy company leading energy security and carbon neutrality."


He added, "We will continue to conduct research in new energy fields such as CCS, hydrogen, and ammonia to establish a stable profit model."


The 2023 Spring Conference hosted by the Korean Society of Petroleum Engineering, under the subtitle "Carbon Neutrality and Energy Transition," was held over two days from the 1st to the 2nd. Twelve member companies, including Korea National Oil Corporation, Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, SK Earthon, and POSCO International, sponsored the event, with about eight domestic universities participating.
