Opening of Seonsan Citizen University for the First Half of the Year

3 Courses Over 8 Weeks (Every Thursday and Friday)

On the 1st, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held the "2023 First Half Seonsan Citizen University Opening Ceremony" in the small conference room of Seonsan Cultural Center, attended by about 30 participants including students.

Bridging the Digital Information Gap in Rural Areas... Gumi-si Seonsan Citizen University Offers Customized Programs Gumi Seonsan Citizen University held the opening ceremony for the first half of 2023.

For the first half of the year, three courses were offered: Smart Smartphone Usage, Art Therapy, and Life Plus+ Science. These courses will be conducted over 8 weeks (once a week per subject) from June 1 to July 21, targeting about 70 students.


The courses include ▲Smart Smartphone Usage (every Thursday, 10 AM to 12 PM), covering smartphone basics, useful app utilization in daily life, and YouTube video shooting and editing; ▲Art Therapy (every Friday, 10 AM to 12 PM), a healing program through art activities such as oil painting, hanji craft, and accessory making; and ▲Life Plus+ Science (every Friday, 7 PM to 9 PM), creating items using scientific principles in daily life. These diverse courses aim to provide citizens with healthy leisure opportunities.


Especially this year, to offer more beneficial courses, a preliminary demand survey was conducted to reflect various opinions from citizens, and evening classes were introduced for office workers.


Lee Chang-su, Director of the Administrative Civil Affairs Division, said, "I hope this lecture will be a good opportunity to bridge the digital information gap in rural areas, promote intergenerational communication, and cultivate humanities literacy." He added, "We will continue to discover and improve demand-oriented customized education programs to revitalize local leisure culture and strengthen citizen capabilities."
