Gangdong-gu Holds the 28th Environment Day Commemoration Event
Held on June 5th (Monday) at 1:30 PM in the 5th Floor Auditorium of Gangdong-gu Office to Celebrate Environment Day
Environmental Special Lecture by Author Kwak Jae-sik and Awards Ceremony & Exhibition for Environmental Art Contest Winners
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced that it will hold the ‘28th Environment Day Commemoration Event’ on the 5th at 1:30 PM in the 5th floor auditorium of Gangdong-gu Office in celebration of Environment Day.
At the event, author and professor Kwak Jae-sik (Department of Environmental Safety Engineering, Soongsil Cyber University) will give a special lecture titled “Our Attitude in the Era of Climate Change.” Through this lecture, attendees will learn about the attitudes we should adopt to respond to the growing severity of the climate crisis in the era of climate change.
Prior to the lecture, an awards ceremony and exhibition for the winners of the ‘2023 Gangdong Environmental Art Contest’ will be held. Among a total of 417 submissions, 40 selected works will provide insight into the concerns and thoughts of students, the future generation leaders, regarding the environment.
The winning works will be exhibited on Environment Day at the Open Yard of Gangdong-gu Office and will also be displayed at the event venue and on the media wall. After the event, the winning artworks in the painting category can be viewed at the 2nd Gangdong-gu Office building and at designated schools within the district. Detailed exhibition schedules will be posted on the Gangdong-gu Office website. Winning videos can be viewed on the Gangdong-gu Environmental Education website.
Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “As the climate crisis and environmental pollution issues become more serious, I hope this Environment Day commemoration event will be a good opportunity to think about what attitudes we should take to protect our living environment,” and added, “We look forward to the active interest and participation of residents.”
