Im Sung-jae had a steady start.

On the 1st (local time), Im Sung-jae posted a 2-under-par 70 in the first round of the Memorial Tournament, a prestigious event on the PGA Tour with a total prize of $20 million, held at Muirfield Village Golf Club (par 72, 7,571 yards) in Dublin, Ohio, USA. He is tied for 10th place. Davis Riley (USA) leads at 5-under-par 67, Matt Wallace is second at 4-under-par 68, and as many as seven players including Danny Willett (England) and Jordan Spieth (USA) are tied for third at 3-under-par 69.

Sungjae Im started the Memorial Tournament Round 1 with 2 under par, tied for 10th place.

Im Sung-jae recorded one eagle, three birdies, and three bogeys. After struggling with 1-over-par through 14 holes, he showed a strong finish with a birdie on the 6th hole (par 4) and an eagle on the 7th hole (par 5). He relied on his long drives averaging 312.7 yards and a fairway hit rate of 78.57%. He is three strokes behind the leader, laying the groundwork for his third PGA Tour victory. Most importantly, it is encouraging that he has escaped the slump of missing the cut in two consecutive tournaments.

World No. 2 Jon Rahm (Spain) and Adam Scott (Australia) are tied for 10th, Kim Si-woo, Viktor Hovland (Norway), Collin Morikawa, and Sam Burns (all USA) are tied for 17th at 1-under-par 71, while World No. 3 Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and An Byeong-hun are tied for 33rd at even par 72. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) is tied for 59th at 2-over-par 74. Lee Kyoung-hoon and Kim Sung-hyun are tied for 72nd at 3-over-par 75, Kim Joo-hyung is tied for 108th at 7-over-par 79, and Choi Kyung-ju is tied for 114th at 9-over-par 81. Defending champion Billy Horschel (USA) also struggled, ranking 118th at 12-over-par 84.
