Confirmation of Gyeongbuk Farmers' Academy Relocation to Mungyeong Following Gunwi County's Incorporation into Daegu

The Gyeongbuk Farmers' Academy, located in Gunwi-gun, Gyeongbuk, which will soon be incorporated into Daegu City, is moving to Mungyeong.


Mungyeong City announced on the 2nd that after launching a promotion committee mainly composed of farmers' organizations on January 6th to attract the Gyeongbuk Farmers' Academy to Mungyeong, it has been carrying out attraction activities and was internally notified of Gyeongbuk Province's decision to relocate to Mungyeong on the 16th of the same month.

After the internal decision to relocate to Mungyeong, the city visited Gyeongbuk Province more than 10 times over four months for consultations to finalize the relocation site, followed by four on-site meetings at the planned relocation site, Mungyeong Hyangto Food School.


With the relocation site finally confirmed, Mungyeong City plans to promptly proceed with follow-up procedures such as reflecting it in the shared property management plan, completing preliminary administrative procedures, securing supplementary budgets, and carrying out expansion construction. They stated they will do their best to open and operate the Gyeongbuk Farmers' Academy at the new location by February next year.


The Gyeongbuk Farmers' Academy, relocating to Mungyeong, is currently located in Gunwi-gun. It operates 64 courses for 1,566 farmer trainees. Four teams consisting of the school principal, headquarters director, education operations, future talent, performance management, and administrative support currently employ 14 staff members.


With the confirmed relocation of the Gyeongbuk Farmers' Academy to Mungyeong, a synergistic effect is expected to leap forward into future smart Gyeongbuk-style agriculture in connection with the digital innovation agriculture city development project. Additionally, it is expected to contribute to population growth and regional economic revitalization in Mungyeong.


Shin Hyun-guk, mayor of Mungyeong City, said, “Through the relocation of the Gyeongbuk Farmers' Academy to Mungyeong, we will do our best to provide advanced agricultural technology education to Gyeongbuk farmers and create an optimal educational environment that combines healing and relaxation.”
