"For a Better Future Starting Now"... Ulsan City Hosts Diverse 'Environment Day' Events

Memorial Ceremony, Environmental Festival, and Concert at Ulsan Grand Park South Gate on the 5th

Ulsan City will hold the "28th Environment Day Commemoration Event" under the theme "For a Better Future, Starting Now" on the 5th at the SK Square near the South Gate of Ulsan Grand Park.

This commemorative event includes Ulsan City's ceremony, the "15th Environment Festival" by the Ulsan Sustainable Development Council, and the "24th Ulsan Love Environment Concert" hosted by Ulsan Maeil Newspaper.

The ceremony will take place at 6:30 PM with about 400 attendees including Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, City Council Chairman Kim Ki-hwan, members of the National Assembly, city council members, representatives of environmental organizations, and citizens. The program includes awards for meritorious service, commemorative speeches, congratulatory speeches, and a theme performance.

At the awards ceremony, 21 citizen environmental activists who have contributed to local environmental conservation will receive commendations from the Ulsan Mayor.

The Environment Fair will be held at the South Gate Square of the Grand Park from 1 PM to 7 PM, where 25 citizen and environmental organizations will offer various hands-on programs that citizens can easily participate in, such as making air-purifying plant pots, natural soap, and eco-friendly scrubbers.

The Environment Concert will be held at 7 PM at the SK Square in Ulsan Grand Park, featuring performances by singers Choi Seong-su, Jung Soo-ra, Jo Eun-sae, The Cross, and others.

"Environment Day" was established by the United Nations in 1972, designating June 5th as the commemorative day. South Korea also designated this day as a legal holiday in 1996 and holds an annual "Environment Day" ceremony.
