Prescribing Chocolate Ice Cream to a Boy with Flu Symptoms
"Never Imagined Ice Cream Would Be Written on a Prescription"

A doctor in Brazil has sparked controversy after it was revealed that he prescribed ice cream and games to a child with a cold.

According to foreign media including the online outlet IOL on the 1st (local time), a doctor working at an emergency health center in Osasco City, S?o Paulo State, prescribed chocolate ice cream and a mobile game along with medication to a 9-year-old boy who came in with flu symptoms on the 18th of last month.

The boy's mother was unaware that ice cream and a mobile game were listed at the bottom of the prescription, but after returning home and showing the prescription to a relative, she realized that the doctor had been mocking her and her child.

The boy's mother claimed that the doctor was unprofessional. She said, "The doctor did not examine my son," and "He started writing the prescription without any tests."

According to the boy's mother, the doctor asked the boy what kind of ice cream he liked and which flavor he preferred between chocolate and strawberry, posing strange questions. The doctor also included the mobile game 'Free Fire' on the prescription along with the ice cream.

The boy's mother said, "I never imagined the doctor would write ice cream on the prescription," adding, "The doctor prescribed 'Free Fire' and ice cream."

The story spread through social networking services (SNS), and reactions to the doctor's prescription were mixed. Some criticized the doctor, saying "He was not professional," while others argued that "The doctor just added ice cream and the game as a joke."

It was reported that the doctor prescribed ice cream to relieve the pain of the boy patient, who showed symptoms of mild acute pharyngitis.

However, as the controversy grew, the regional medical board of S?o Paulo State investigated the case and decided to dismiss the doctor. The board stated, "We decided to dismiss the doctor due to inappropriate behavior toward the patient and their family and for failing to clearly explain the prescription details to the patient's family."
