Kwon Ki-chang: "Preventing Talent Drain"
On the 2nd at 2 PM, Andong City in Gyeongbuk will hold a signing ceremony and meeting with 14 companies participating in the 'Local Talent Employment Incentive Support Project' at City Hall.
At the event, about 20 people including Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang, representatives of the 14 participating companies, and officials from the Social Economy Hub Center, the project executing organization, will attend to sign an agreement on local talent employment and incentive support.
Afterwards, there will be a session to collect difficulties and suggestions related to business operations and discuss solutions together.
This project, planned and promoted as a key pledge of the 8th local government administration, was selected in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's regional-led youth job project competition and aims to support a total of 20 local talents by February 2025.
The support includes providing up to 1.6 million KRW per month in labor costs to companies with five or more regular employees who hire graduates from Andong University, Andong Science College, Catholic Sangji College, and other local universities as full-time employees, as well as offering 300,000 KRW per month in settlement support and job training to the employed staff.
Mayor Kwon Ki-chang said, "We will create conditions for local companies to hire local talents to help young people settle in the region and prevent the outflow of talent," adding, "Let us join forces to respond to the crisis of regional extinction through improving the treatment of participating local talents and efforts to grow as sound local companies."
